Bluetooth Speaker Not Connecting to Phone? Here’s How to Fix It!

When the speaker does not connect to the phone via Bluetooth, users try to understand what to do and the cause of the breakdown. There may indeed be several sources of problems – some general, others characteristic only of specific operating systems. You can find out why the iPhone does not see the speaker or why Android does not find it by comprehensively studying all the possible reasons for the connection failure.

Basic connection errors

The wireless speaker connects to the phone via Bluetooth and maintains stable signal reception from the source at a distance of 10 to 30 m, depending on the version of the communication module used. At the same time, the smartphone can still be used in normal mode. Pairings can be created between several auxiliary and one main device at once.

It is important to add that Bluetooth transmission is a fairly stable way of transmitting audio signals to external acoustic devices. If your iPhone or Android smartphone does not find the speaker, does not see it when activated, it is worth considering the possible causes of the problems in more detail.

Most often, the lack of a Bluetooth connection is due to some errors.

  1. The pairing mode is inactive in the portable speaker. For successful device detection, it must be enabled on both the speaker and the smartphone. In most cases, to activate, you just need to follow the included instructions. If there are none, it is enough to press and hold the power button until the built-in indicators flash or an audible alert appears.
  2. After the first connection, the speaker does not connect automatically. Usually, only smartphones and speakers of the same brand are capable of this. If the connection cannot be established again without additional tricks, you need to do it again.
  3. There is no sound, the speaker is on, the smartphone is on too. It is possible that the pairing was done with another device. If the mobile device was previously connected to another speaker, it may well do so again.
  4. The NFC module interferes. If both the speaker and the smartphone have it, then it is often impossible to use the usual Bluetooth communication channels. It is imperative to try to perform NFC pairing by bringing the device as close as possible to the switched-on wireless speaker and confirm the request that appears on the screen.
  5. The equipment is simply broken or not charged. You need to start checking by checking the smartphone. If you can connect it via Bluetooth with other devices, the problem is in the speaker. If the battery is discharged, you need to connect the device to the network until it is replenished and then try to turn it on.
  6. Smartphone operating system failure. If the connection is unexpectedly broken, it is recommended to reboot the device. It is quite possible that after this simple action, the pairing will be established in the normal mode.
  7. The pairing is unstable. The reason may be interference or exceeding the recommended connection range. It is worth bringing the device as close to the speaker as possible during the first pairing, giving it time for the signal to pass.
  8. The connection is not established without a password. If it is not specified in the documents for the speaker, or they are missing, it is worth trying the universal combination of numbers – 0000. In most cases, it is enough.
  9. Signal source – iPhone. Many budget devices cannot be connected to Apple smartphones due to the incompatibility of communication standards. It is worth choosing speakers whose specification indicates the ability to work with an iPhone.

What to do?

If pairing is established for the first time, you need to make sure that Bluetooth modules are enabled on the smartphone and the speaker at the same time. To connect, you need to enter the mobile device menu, open access to discovery for all devices. After the device appears in the list – the name of the speaker will be displayed – you need to pair. It can take up to 5 minutes.

An unsaved pairing can be due to various factors. If the speaker does not automatically start playing sound immediately after activating Bluetooth on the phone, you will need to manually pair it again. With some models, this must be repeated regularly.

It is quite easy to detect a connection to another device when the smartphone finds the wrong speaker. It is enough to enter the Bluetooth menu on the smartphone, check the current pairing. Often, this is how the smartphone finds wireless headphones. To correct the situation, you will need to disconnect unnecessary sound sources and pair them again.

Our Adviсe

Bluetooth speakers are quite diverse in their design. Most often, we are talking about classic portable acoustics. Today, so-called “smart” devices that support work as a voice assistant and a full-fledged media complex also act in this capacity. The connection with them is established via Bluetooth only in the mode of broadcasting music or other audio files. It is worth considering that in pairing mode, such devices consume the phone’s charge quite intensively: the older the version of the communication module, the greater the power consumption.

Connecting wireless speakers has its nuances. The smartphone from which the signal is transmitted should be as close as possible to the portable speaker at the time of pairing. Otherwise, signal recognition will be difficult.

It is recommended to connect 2 speakers to one smartphone using a fundamentally different scheme, otherwise, the sound will only go through one speaker. The speakers will have to be connected by wire via an AUX or USB cable. In this case, you only need to connect the smartphone via Bluetooth to 1 speaker, and it is better to choose a lower-power model.

When the breakdown has technical reasons, the device simply will not turn on. It may be due to the lack of battery charge. This happens when the cable or charging socket on the case is damaged. The battery itself may also fail during operation.

If everything works fine, but the connection cannot be established, it is worth paying attention to auxiliary tools. These include the Bluetooth pair application. Having installed it on the phone, you can quite easily connect even those devices that could not be connected in other ways.

A speaker that previously supported pairing but now does not receive a signal can be “reanimated” by performing a full reset of the settings . It will break all previously established contacts. In most cases, it is enough to hold the power button for 10 seconds. Clearing the history will help if the memory is overloaded and it already contains data from more than 10 signal sources.
